Buddy
Buddy was a stray just showed up in our pasture one day and never left. He came covered in mange and underweight and was probably a dog that had just been abandoned or dropped off at the side of the road. We got Buddy vetted and up to date on everything and he immediately became a member of the family. He is a wonderful little dog and very tolerant of the kids. He gets along well with all members of our family, both those with four legs and those with two legs. We can't imagine our home without him, so it can only have been fate that brought him to us.
Toffee and Biscuit
Toffee and Biscuit are my cats that I have had for many, many years now. I got them both as tiny kittens and they are now turning 12 and 13. Toffee came from the animal shelter and was so tiny, we didn't even know if she would survive. Biscuit came from the pet store. I had no intentions of buying a cat that day, but she just kept crying out to me and I had to get her. It was the best impulse buy I ever made! Both Toffee and Biscuit sleep on my bed every night. Biscuit sleeps by my pillow and Toffee sleeps at my feet. They love each other very much and are very sweet girls. I hope they have many wonderful years left with me.
Mouse
Mouse is a feral kitten that showed up in our yard when he was about four weeks old. He was completely wild and afraid of humans. He bonded with our cat, Prince, and would only come near a human if Prince was there. After about a week of sitting patiently outside waiting for him to come close enough, I was finally able to catch him and bring him inside. We quarantined him for several weeks away from the other cats, but he has since moved in the main house with the rest of the indoor cats. He is doing well and while he will probably never be a "lap cat", he has come a long way with his social skills. He is several months old now and doing great!
Prince Charming
Prince is supposed to be a Maine Coon, but we all think he is a little small to be a full-blooded Maine Coon. Prince arrived infested with worms, ear mites, and rather scraggly looking, but he is on his way to recovery. He will be a beautiful cat when he is back to health and is definitely very charming. Prince will be neutered in the near future and is turning out to be a wonderful addition to our family.
Pepper
Pepper is a ten year old long hair cat that I recently adopted from the Campbell County Animal Shelter. Older cats are hard to find homes for and the shelter has a very high euthanasia rate, so I thought I would give Pepper a chance to live out the rest of her life. She appears to be a mix with a Persian or some other purebred, long hair cat and has always been an indoor cat. She is declawed in the front and came to the shelter with her vet records, so I don't know why she ended up there. She is very sweet and is making a great addition to the family.
